The network is run on a voluntary basis. It does not receive donations or grants.
The WPM advocate for:
- An increase in the selection of women as mediators for track I peace processes. Currently, only 6% of peace processes are mediated by women mediators. Women and men should be equally represented as lead mediators in international track I mediation processes. Decision-making bodies should nominate and appoint more women mediators to leadership positions in track 1 peace processes.
- The recognition that methodological mediation expertise, alongside political experience, is an essential competence of lead mediators in track 1 peace processes. Thus, both competencies should be equally considered when nominating/selecting lead mediators/special representatives/special envoys.
The network is run on a voluntary basis. It does not receive donations or grants.
